I am currently on a quest. My current quest involves me finding at least one organization within the State College area that I want to intern with by November 1st.
I told myself this wouldn't happen. But like every single important thing I have to do, my fear makes me procrastinate hardcore. I end up waiting till the last minute, and I scramble around like a chicken with its head cut off.
However, I am going to use this short deadline to my advantage. So far, I have a total of eight possible places I want to intern with, two of which I hope to hear from soon.
One thing I'm glad for, is that I know almost exactly what population I want to work with. Through the years of "soul searching" (switching from nursing to OT) for my career, I realized that if it's one population I love working with, it is those with disabilities (more in particular intellectual disabilities). This became even more definite as I did my summer internship with VISIONS and I worked with adults and children who were either special needs, or active and independent. My love for helping people is constantly quenched in that job of work (speaking of which, I can't wait to go back next summer, wooo!).
This is probably going to be a stressful few weeks as I get everything together, but I know for a fact I will have everything done. Hopefully. Wish me luck!!
